Process Management

A Process is a group of interrelated activities that together create value for the customer.

Processes are sustainable competitive advantage for organization, while new product or even new technology can be duplicated quickly, processes on the other hand are difficult to duplicate. Organization will compete on the basis of the effectiveness of processes that become differentiators to competitive success.

Every process has a Leader, Members, Suppliers and Customers. Process leader : Department who has the authority to make changes to the process. Process members : Department or persons who participate in the transformation of the inputs to outputs. Suppliers : Department or another process that provides an input to the process. Customer : Department or another process that receives or uses the outcome of the process

According to Pall, there are six important components for managing a process:

1. Ownership
Organization shall assign the responsibility for design, operate and improve the process

2. Planning
Organization shall define the interrelation between process

3. Controlling
Organization shall ensure the process output meets the customer specification

4. Measurement
Organization shall determine Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and acceptance criteria for processes

5. Improvement
Organization shall increase process effectiveness through improvement activities

6. Optimization
Organization shall increases productivity to produce the most efficient amount of production

In summary, Organization shall define process excellence that create value for customer and ultimately for its stakeholders.
