This process is the basis for continuous improvement.

Continuous improvement has becomes necessary and integral part of organization’s strategy. Organization must identify gaps between targeted goals and actual goals to recommend process improvement.

For each gap assign responsibility to Quality Improvement Team. A Quality Improvement Team is typically a cross functional group of individuals who use quality tools and techniques to define problems and develop solutions to improve the process.

Quality Improvement Team deals with improvement, to know which aspects of processes need to be improved most. Quality refers not only to the quality of products or services but also processes, since customer do not pay for non-value-adding activities.

Basic process design issues for improvement:
Why design process this way?
When does the process start and end?
What are the desired process outcomes?
What are the world-class process performance goals and benchmark?
Where are the process boundaries and key interfaces with customer?
What are the barriers to successful implementation?
Can we do it better?

In summary, improving processes results in fewer mistakes, shorter lead time, off course therefore reduced use of resources and finally lowering the overall cost of operations.
